EAT. TRAIN. REST.

DAY 88 of 365

MORTAL combat

Ahhhh, I am feeling so vulnerable these days.  Perhaps it is the lack of recent conviction in my workouts or maybe the abundance of friends, family, or otherwise that I hear about getting cancer or some other mind-numbing ailment.  I just feel like it is absolutely ridiculous that I am sitting at 300 pounds and approaching 40 years old.  What a deadly combination!

OK, to be fair, today I am just a hair UNDER 300, and I am actually only coming up on my 38th birthday.  Nonetheless, you get the point.  I was talking with my 8 year old a few days ago, and the conversation turned to college.  I remarked that she would be off in “not even 10 years.”  Wow.  That seems like a blink in time.  In just 10 years, my girl will be out on her own.  I have so little time to impart what wisdom and life experience that I can.  Then it hit me.  I will be pushing 50 when that time comes.  FIFTY!!???!!

Life is short.  We are finite.  *I* am finite.  If I want to begin enjoying this reality as I should, as I deserve, as my family deserves, rather than hiding behind black t-shirts all my life …  the time is now.  What other time is there?

Yeah, I have been incredibly introspective recently – and it bothers me.

So, my Mom is in town visiting us (more specifically, she is visiting the girls).  Just another week struggling against the temptation to eat out every meal and not exercise in order to spend more time with her.

By the way (but not completely off-topic), despite back to back days off, I did get to the gym tonight and hit my upper body pretty good.  I will always have an excuse to slack off, but if I want to get my life back, I need to keep at this.  So I have.

I don’t know to what degree, but I WILL LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK.  And yes, saying it DOES make it so.
